A BLUE AND WHITE SOFT PASTE OVOID JAR

18th century

Painted in delicate shades of cobalt blue in a penciled style under a light pale brown, crackled glaze, with widely spaced small chrysanthemum flowerheads on scrolling leafy-stemmed tendrils between slender leaf lappets at the foot and a band of
ruyi lappets and a chevron band at the shoulder, below a short, glazed neck and rounded rim, supported on a short unglazed foot ring with deeply cut flat base.


8 1/2in (21.6cm) high, wood cover

Condition Report

Generally, in excellent overall condition. The glaze has a most attractive light crackle that runs throughout the jar. Recommended.
