Lot of 2 Southwestern Framed Art. 1st item: Framed watercolor (gouache) by Robert D. Draper (1938-2000) Winter scene with stream and Native American woman walking towards cabin. Signed lower left. Excellent condition. Sight: 13 3/4" H x 21" W, Framed: 23" H x 30 1/4" W. From the age of two, the artist, who was born Robert Martin (son of Janet Descheeny and Frank Martin), was raised by his grandparents whose name was Draper. When he was eight years old and sent to the Chinle Boarding School, the school changed his name to Robert Draper. He was best known for his realistic landscapes of the Navajo Reservation. circa 1980. 2nd item: Oil on canvas by S.L. Humphrey, Silver City, NM, "Herding Cattle on Blue Creek", three cowboys herding cattle across a creek in canyon landscape. signed lower right. Painting in excellent condition behind glass, frame has minor abrasions. Sight: 20" H x 25 1/2" W; Framed: 32 1/2" H x 38 3/4" W. SL Humphrey was born and raised on a large and historic working cattle ranch in southwestern New Mexico near the Gila National Wilderness. Circa 1980. Provenance: Knoxville, Tennessee collection.
