Jean Charles Chenu (1808-1879) Hand Colored Lithograph c. 1845-1851. This lithograph is one of 482 plates (of which 345 are colored) found in Illustrations conchyliologiques, one of the rarest and considered one of the most beautiful of all color-plate shell books. This is plate No. 30. The book was published in four parts. Jean-Charles Chenu, Paris was a French physician and naturalist. Professionally framed and matted. Measures 22"x26"x2". Weight 5 pds. 6 oz. PROVENANCE: A Charleston SC Private Estate.
