Description

1875 (M8) WILLIAM HENRY KEMBLE YARROW (American 1891-1941) Nude in a Garden Oil on canvas 26in. x 32in. Signed lower right William Yarrow was an acclaimed muralist in the early 20th century. He was trained in an academic style at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and also studied in Paris and Florence. His best known works were nudes and allegorical murals including a five panel work based on sports commissioned for Princeton Univeristy. Yarrow exhibited at the San Francisco Pan Pacific Exposition in 1915 and won the silver medal for an Impressionistic nude.
