Description

BODE, Johann Elert, (German, 1747-1826): Celestial map of the constellation Virgo and surrounding constellation. Plate 14 of his definitive work Uranographia published in 1801. Hand tinted engraving features Hydra, Crater, Corvus, Sextans and Virgo. Bode was the Director of the Berlin Observatory. Sight size 20 1/2'' x 41 1/4'', framed and matted 34 1/4'' x 55 1/4''.

Note separation line in center, one page overlaps other and both pages taped to matt with archival tape. Edges of paper have period loss and uneven, not seen in frame and under matt.
