Second edition of the first of Dürer's four theoretical writings on art, the famous treatise on geometry and draughtsmanship, revised by the artist shortly before his death and republished by his widow. The last two woodcuts on perspective drawing by mechanical rather than mathematical means are first published in this edition. The artist's monogram below title, large woodcut diagrams and illustrations on 72 pages of the proportions of the male and female human figure at all ages. FIRST LATIN EDITION of Books 1 and 2 of Vier Bücher von Menschlicher Proportion (1528), published for the instruction of artists.
