Weinstein Gallery

Invaluable Seller since 2012

Weinstein Gallery opened in 1992 on Geary Street in San Francisco. Since that time, the gallery has become a fixture on Union Square, specializing in both Modern Masters and also representing several important artist estates. Weinstein Gallery boasts a collection that is arguably one of the most important on either coast, and its vision is guided by the belief that an art gallery can be both scholarly and accessible, should relate canonical art to its contemporary manifestations, and has a responsibility to present a full story of the history of art. Starting with only a handful of artists and employees, Weinstein Gallery has grown to include multiple locations in San Francisco, with work by influential artists from the twentieth century.

The Weinstein Gallery collection includes important paintings and prints by modern masters such as Picasso, Miró, Chagall, and Matta, as well as work by talented contemporary artists, such as painters Robert Kipniss and John Anderson. In recent years the gallery has expanded to present works by many European Surrealists as well as Abstract Surrealists. A signature component of Weinstein Gallery is its representation of a number of artist's estates, including that of pioneering British Surrealist Gordon Onslow Ford; Abstract Surrealist Gerome Kamrowski; Italian-born painter Enrico Donati, collaborator with Marcel Duchamp and Andre Breton; and non-objective art innovator Rudolf Bauer, whose works formed the core of the early Guggenheim Museum. The gallery has acquired a significant collection of the work of Rolph Scarlett, an important American non-objective painter, as well as one of the world's largest holdings of works by Leonor Fini. In 2011 the gallery presented a major survey of surrealism titled "Surrealism: New Worlds." The gallery has recently begun representing the Estates of David Hare and Hassel Smith.
