Biography

Our venture was launched in 1990. The present day premises on Falk Miksa Street have grown to a plan size of 1,800 square metres through several additions over time. This makes us one of Europe's biggest downtown antique shops! We are located in the Downtown area of Budapest (Belváros), in the Gallery district, a few minutes' walk from the Parliament building.

Built in 1907, the building which gives home to our shop has a richly adorned wrought iron gate, a beautiful staircase, and fantastic cellar systems, which have been featured in several world-famous movies. Its spectacular interiors provide a suitable background for the antique and modern pieces – furniture, pictures and sculptures – we are selling.


The Shop and Gallery are divided to several parts horizontally and vertically. We exhibit our items in 32 rooms on three floor levels, a selection that ranges from small vitrine objects to stately castle furniture, from graphics to paintings, from the Renaissance era to the present day.

Many drop by us with the intention to enrich their representative office rooms, studies, homes, or shops with high-standard antiques. At the same time, we sell smaller – though valuable – gift items as well, such as gold and silver jewellery, antique decorations, cigarette cases, pocket watches, vases, and so on. We regularly organize thematic and seasonal live auctions – thanks to our gallery’s dimensions and inspiring interiors. Since 2012 we organize online timed auctions.


In addition to selling antiques, our Gallery deals with contemporary art as well. In 2000, we started Pintér Sonja Contemporary Gallery, which has since hosted many exhibitons for Hungarian and other European artists.
