Biography

The Portuguese Auction House Palácio do Correio Velho was founded in 1989 with the objective of becoming a reference company in the Works of Art Auctions.

For the opening Auction brought for sale the “Biblioteca de D. Carlos I e de D. Manuel II” that was very emblematic and strongly made an impact in its entrance to the market. Palácio do Correio Velho soon gained its National Auction market leadership position, having been the holder of the record for the more expensive Art piece sold at Auction in Portugal for several times.

This company always had the collaboration of a wide range of national and international experts, also collaborating with several museums on identifying and categorizing works of Art. The essence of its activity is mainly highlighted by the Antiques, Modern and Contemporary Art Live Auctions.

Always on the lead of the Art Market in Portugal, it was the first company of the Auction Business to be online, by creating a website, and launching an online auction platform in Portugal.

In 2014, began the Online Auctions, where some areas of interest are individualized in a more exclusive way such as, Books, Ancient Prints, Medals, Wines, Porcelain, Classic Toys, always in the field of Collecting.
