Cincinnati Art Galleries

Invaluable Seller since 2003

Cincinnati Art Galleries specializes in mid-19th to mid-20th Century American and European paintings as well as American and European Art Pottery and Art Glass from the same period. We have many excellent reference books available on American Art Pottery and The American Arts and Crafts Movement in addition to catalogs of our own auctions and exhibitions, past and current. Our gallery also handles works by several contemporary Cincinnati Artists.

Cincinnati Art Galleries specializes in paintings by fine artists either from or with connections to the American midwest. Among these artists are names like Blum, Casinelli, DeCamp, Duveneck, Farny, Hauser, Hopkins, Hurley, Kaelin, Lindsay, Lord, Meakin, Meurer, Mosler, Myers, Nourse, Potthast, Selden, Sharp, Sonntag, Twachtman, Volkert, Weis and Wessel, to name a few. Many of these artists are representative of the finest schools in American painting, including the Taos School, and the Hudson River School. We often carry artists not listed above from the aforementioned schools and well-known Regionalist painters.

Our galleries are also known for holding the largest art pottery auctions in the country each June and November, with a special emphasis on world-renowned works of Cincinnati's own Rookwood Pottery. We have set nearly every record for Rookwood sold at auction and many for other American and European Art Potteries.

Services
Cincinnati Art Galleries buys and sell paintings, pottery, art glass, and contemporary arts & crafts furnishings at our gallery location in downtown Cincinnati, by phone, mail or fax, and through our web site. We also seek the above listed items as consignments for auction or retail sale. Books and catalogs are available to both retail and wholesale customers.

Our contacts in the art world are fairly extensive so individuals and parties interested in buying works created by a particular artist or in a certain classification can ask for our assistance.

We also provide appraisal services, both informal and written (for insurance and estate purposes). There is no charge for verbal appraisals, but we do assess a fee for written appraisals based on time spent by our staff. We would be happy to give our professional opinion on items you have available but generally we need to either see the object in person or have an image of the work in order to make an accurate assessment. Good photographs or images sent via e-mail in jpeg format are most helpful. Images of signatures on paintings and pottery as well as dimensions, framing information (ex. "under glass"), notations, and other relevant descriptive information is generally necessary for our staff to be able to accurately determine the value of your piece or pieces.
