Biography

With roots tracing back to 1840, Anderson & Garland was so named during a merger between two firms in 1913.

Since its inception, Anderson & Garland specialized in sales of art and furnishings for regional industrial and land-owning families in Northeast England. In the late 20th century a boom in antiques led to the firm’s expansion into clients from all around the globe.

Anderson & Garland outfitted an expansion on the outskirts of Newcastle in 2005, where they house two 7,000 square foot salesrooms and an additional 4,000 square foot storage warehouse. In 2012, the auction house set an artist record when they sold a painting entitled “Spennymoor Street Scene” by Norman Cornish.

In addition to auctioning the complete contents of ancestral or modern homes, Anderson & Garland offers a wide range of services including valuation of antiques and works of art.
