Biography

Addison & Sarova is one of the world's few auction houses that specializes exclusively in antiquarian books, manuscripts, and maps. The business began as a passion project for owner Michael Addison who started his own rare book dealership in the 1990s. Addison himself is an avid collector of rare books and fine art in addition to a licensed auctioneer.

Notable Sales

Addison & Sarova held one of the largest book auctions in history in 2012 when "Brokeback Mountain" screenplay writer Larry McMurtry consigned 300,000 books to be sold with the Georgia based auction house.

They also hold the current world record for a map sale, beating out Sotheby's and Christie's for a realized $240,000 on an Italian-made map of Africa and Europe from 1501. They auctioned off Ezra Pound's copy of The Cocktail Party, signed by T.S. Elliot for $24,000 and realized a copy of "New England's Prospect" for $39,000.
