      Alfred Biolek, Red-Award, Pomona Zipser*

      Est: €1,800 - €3,600

ReD Award. Patinated bronze, acrylic gas base. H. 53.7 cm. Inscribed on the bronze: P.Z. (deepened). Inscribed on the base: ReD-Award/ 2009/ Prof. Dr./ Alfred Biolek (engraved). In 2009, Alfred Biolek received the ReD Award for his sustained commitment to youth in HIV/AIDS prevention. The prize was awarded as part of Reminders Day, an AIDS gala in the Red City Hall in Berlin under the patronage of the then governing mayor Klaus Wowereit. Alfred Biolek (1934-2021) is regarded as a pioneer of the talk show in Germany and has shaped German television for many decades as a moderator, talk show host and producer. His talk shows Kölner Treff, Mensch Meier, Boulevard Bio and Bios Bahnhof with countless prominent guests from art, culture and politics are unforgettable. After the TV productions, there were regular after-show parties at tables up to 30 meters long with all the employees and guests involved in the show, which were the crowning glory of each show. From 1994 he was present with his cooking show alfredissimo! on television for many years, where he cooked and chatted with celebrities from all fields. His enthusiastic 'Mmmhh' exclamations while tasting the wine and the finished dishes were legendary. His publications include numerous cookbooks illustrated by his friends, the cartoonists Franziska Becker and Papan, among others. Biolek was also a UN Goodwill Ambassador, held a professorship at the Media University and founded several foundations. He has received several awards for his voluntary and social commitment, as well as for his book publications. In 2009 Biolek moved from Cologne to Berlin and parted with many things from the time in Cologne. The objects presented here come from his former possessions, including the trophies for the German Book Prize, the ReD Award and the Otmar Alt Culture Prize. In Berlin he broke new ground and appeared, for example, in the Cosi van Tutte production by Christoph Hagel. The collection of Biolek objects documents different areas of his life, his engagement and his very personal and close relationships with different artists.
