In 1964, Günter Zint spent about two weeks to accompany the nine year old boy Olaf Poeschel, who lived with his father and sister in Bernauer street 102 in Berlin. The resulting photographs impressively document the playground of the boy and at the same time the terror and everyday fear along the death strip. When the Federal Minister later read Olaf’s story in the BILD newspaper, he decided to give him a bicycle as a present. The print is verso fitted with the photographer’s stamp ‘Günter Zint’. The work is professionally matted and in very good condition. The image size is 30.2 x 39.7 cm and the size of the sheet is 31.5 x 40.7 cm. He started his education with a traineeship at the Deutsche Presseagentur in Frankfurt am Main. As a qualified photographer he went to Sweden and England to work for two years. He then worked for the ‘Spiegel’ magazine in Hamburg for five years. He had his breakthrough with photographs of the ‘Star-Club’ in Hamburg. Günter Zint was known for his intimate photographs of the member of the British pop band as well as portraits of other rock stars, such as for example Jimi Hendrix. The photographs are each in very good condition with minor signs of wear. The sheet dimensions are 39.5 x 30 cm and 52.2 x 40.6 cm. The large print is mounted under a mat with photo mounting corners, which measures 70 x 60 cm. This vintage gelatin silver print by the German photographer Günter Zint (born 1941), who is famous for his pictures of musicians from the sixties and seventies, shows the American street musician and political activist from the district Lower East Side in New York City, David Peel, lying on the hood of a vintage car of the type Volvo PV544. The singer-songwriter Tim Buckley (1947-1975) is standing next to him. According to the handwritten caption on the backside, the photograph was taken on the occasion of a festival in Essen, Germany. The present photograph is signed in pencil by Günter Zint verso. In addition to the signature, the photograph is also titled, annotated and dated verso ‘Tim Buckley / David Peel / Essener Songtage 1968‘. The photograph is in good condition with some handling creases on the glossy surface due to its age. The print shows some defaults of processing in the glossy surface along the upper edge. This photograph by Günter Zint (born 1941) presents the British-American rock musician Eric Burdon (born 1941) at a concert in Hamburg's Star Club together with the New Animals. After the recording for a German TV show in Hamburg, they visited the Star Club and went spontaneously for a session on stage. Burdon claimed in his biography that he has unfortunately never performed in Hamburg's legendary club, but was persuaded to the contrary by the photos of Zint. His comment: ‘My God, at that time, I often didn’t know where I was, but my manager made the gigs and I the joints ...’ The present photograph is signed in pencil by Günter Zint verso. It is in good condition showing some discolorations (processing default) in the center and some handling creases on the glossy surface due to its age. The dimensions are 52 x 40.5 cm. The photograph depicts the world-famous front man of The Doors, Jim Morrison (1943-1971), at a concert in Frankfurt. The present photograph is signed in pencil by Günter Zint verso. It is in good condition with some handling creases on the glossy surface due to its age. There are creases at both the upper corners and a few discolored stains are visible in the image. The dimensions are 52 x 40.5 cm. The singer-songwriter Tim Buckley (1947-1975) is standing next to him. According to the handwritten caption on the backside, the photograph was taken on the occasion of a festival in Essen, Germany. The present photograph is signed in pencil by Günter Zint verso. In addition to the signature, the photograph is also titled, annotated and dated verso 'Tim Buckley / David Peel / Essener Songtage 1968'. The photograph is in good condition with some handling creases on the glossy surface due to its age. The print shows some defaults of processing in the glossy surface along the upper edge. The first photograph depicts the Beatles during a press conference during the 'BRAVO-Beatles-Blitztournee', the only tour through Germany in 1966. And at the second photograph the band is seen during a rehearsal at a television studio. Both photographs are signed in pencil verso. The two photographs show some handling creases on the glossy surface due to its age. On the first photograph is a matte stain on the head of the musician at the left. There are also some slight handling creases at the lower edge. On the photograph of the press conference is an approximately 10 cm long crease at the lower edge due to a folding line. The Jimi Hendrix Experience was an English-American rock band which was formed in Westminster, London in October, 1966. Composed of the singer, songwriter, and guitarist Jimi Hendrix, bassist and backing vocalist Noel Redding, and drummer Mitch Mitchell, the band was active until June 1969. In this time the group released three successful studio albums. After Redding left the band, Hendrix and Mitchell stayed together through other projects. - Several handling creases, otherwise in good condition.
