Zang, 1859 - Georgia, amerikanischer Landschaftsmaler, der mit seinen Winter- Landschaften bekannt wurde, hier: In einer tief verschneiten, winterlichen Landschaft macht ein Holzfäller mit seinen Pferden, die einen Baumstamm ziehen, Rast. Im Hintergrund das Licht der Abenddämmerung, ein einsames Haus und ein Pferdegespann, Öl/Lw., 76 x 126 cm, altdoubliert, l. u. sign. John J. Zang lebte 1880 in Paterson, New Jersey und war 1883 in Yosemite tätig. Er malte auch entlang des Hudson River in New York. Berichte über seine Arbeit finden sich in der Zeitschrift Antiques, September 1973 und März 1974. Ausgestellt sind seine Gemälde im Wadsworth - Kunstmuseum in Hartford /Connecticut USA. Das vorliegende Werk ist dokumentiert in der: "American Gallery - Greatest American Painters" John J. Zang lived in Paterson, New Jersey in 1880 and was active in Yosemite in 1883. He also painted along the Hudson River in New York. Reports on his work can be found in Antiques magazine, September 1973 and March 1974. His paintings are exhibited at the Wadsworth - Art Museum in Hartford /Connecticut USA.
