TedyZet Painting - "Peace Over Banksy Peace" (2022)

        Est: $800 - $1,200

Tadas Zaicikas (Lithuanian, b. 1974) "Peace Over Banksy Peace" acrylic and acrylic-based spray paints on canvas, 2022. Signed by the artist on the lower left. A remarkable painting by Tadas Zaicikas (also known as TedyZet) whose works have been meteorically rising in value (see Saatchi Art listings). Zaicikas has rendered an image of Banksy's "CND Soldiers" anti-war statement in black with a dripping blood-red motif superimposed over the black peace sign that is above the soldiers. In the background, Zaicikas has painted the word "PEACE" repeatedly in shades of red and orange over the colors of the Ukrainian flag, blue and yellow. Zaicikas' powerful homage to Banksy employs the Bristol-based artist's international symbol of piece to make a political statement about the Ukraine conflict with his remarkable fusion of painterly Neo-Expressionism and bold street art. Size: 15.7" L x 11.75" W (39.9 cm x 29.8 cm) Size: 18" L x 24" W (45.7 cm x 61 cm) Recently, a rare edition of Banksy's anti-war print entitled "CND Soldiers" raised $106,500 for Ukraine's largest children's hospital. In the following passage, BANKSY EXPLAINED describes the original intent of Banksy's composition as well as its extrapolated meaning as a universal symbol of peace, "CND Soldiers depicts two soldiers, crouching on the ground and scouting the landscape around them. One is holding a machine gun, the other a paintbrush with which he is in the process of painting a red peace sign. This sign originally symbolized the British Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND) of 1957 and is now widely known as an international symbol of peace. The satirical juxtaposition of armed soldiers alongside the iconic peace sign questions the role and impact of military in keeping the peace. The peace sign, painted in dripping red evokes the bloodshed of war. The soldiers, who act on behalf of the government, are now represented as activists and vandals, graffitiing the wall in protest." Tadas Zaicikas was born in Lithuania but has lived and worked in Canada, the United Kingdom, and France. Signed Tadas Zaicikas Painting - John Lennon (2022)

        Est: $800 - $1,200

Tadas Zaicikas (also known as TedyZet - Lithuanian, b. 1974) "John Lennon _between colors" acrylic, acrylic-based spray paints, and ink on canvas, 2022. A striking painting of legendary singer, songwriter, musician, and peace activist John Lennon by Tadas Zaicikas, an artist whose works have been meteorically rising in value (see Saatchi Art listings). In this piece, Zaicikas has rendered John's iconic visage with his signature wire rim round eyeglasses and wavy hair in shades of grey and black, but has surrounded this famous face with contrasting layers of vivid color - palpable paint drips of copper, black, and peach hues as well as the word "love" repeatedly spray-painted in a rainbow of colors over a ground of sapphire and violet hues - making for a mesmerizing composition. In addition, the subject's name is scrawled in a graffiti-like manner in bold black to the left and right of "the smart Beatle's" face. The painting with its magical fusion of Neo-Expressionist painterly applications and its recurring "Love" inscriptions brings to mind the music and lyrics of songs associated with John: "All You Need Is Love," "Imagine," "Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds," "Strawberry Fields Forever," "Day Tripper," "Paperback Writer," "I am the Walrus," "Ticket to Ride," "In My Life," "Penny Lane" and more. A mesmerizing artwork by TedyZet that brilliantly marries the musical and visual arts! Size: 24" L x 36" W (61 cm x 91.4 cm) It is well known that John Lennon spoke, wrote, and sang about love on many occasions. The following are some poignant words from this inspirational luminary: "If someone thinks that peace and love are just a cliche that must have been left behind in the 60s, that's a problem. Peace and love are eternal. "Limitless undying love which shines around me like a million suns it calls me on and on across the universe." "There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life." Tadas Zaicikas was born in Lithuania but has lived and worked in Canada, the United Kingdom, and France. He received his Master's degree from KTU in Lithuania in 1996 and has exhibited in Canada, the United States, Switzerland, Italy, Austria, and South Korea.
