The letter is written on a cardboard card and mentions the dispatch of 50 New Year’s cards and Zahel’s work. Included in the lot are two period photographs. The first shows Zahel in a light coat, likely in his studio, holding brushes near an easel. The second photograph captures Zahel at work with a palette and brushes in an interior setting, with another man visible in the background.

(18. 5. 1888 Prague - 1958 Prague) Haymaking Indian ink heightened with white, 210 x 280 mm, mounted, glazed, dated 1932 on the reverse, signed lower right, inscribed and dated by the artist on the reverse. Czech landscape painter, he studied at the Academy of Decorative Arts in Prague and under professor Ottenfeld and Svabinsky at the Academy of Arts in Prague. See T 2/715, TD 215, V 5/193, TB 36/384.
