Alfons Konstantinovic Zaba (1878-1942) Alfons Konstantinovic Zaba was a famous Russian painter and graphic artist. Zaba studied at first presumably at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg under P.O. Kovalevski and F.A. Rubo. Since the beginning of the 20th century his works had been shown in many exhibitions and the artist was co-founder of a group of painters. His favored subjects are landscapes, portraits, genre and animal paintings. Stylistically Zaba was guided by reality in his art, later he preferred to paint under the open sky influenced by the trend of painting en plein air.
