Harland Young Sold at Auction Prices

b. 1924 - d. 2015

Artist Harland Young was born in Missouri in 1924, but his family soon moved to California where he was raised on a cattle ranch. Harland Young's paintings for sale depicted cattle drives, stagecoach runs, and cowboys set against western landscapes; a clear nod to his love of the American West and upbringing.

Five years after graduating with his BFA from the Art Center College in Los Angeles, artist Harland Young opened his own studio. Harland Young's oil paintings capture the rugged West in rich earthy tones and soft lines. In 1970, he was commissioned to paint John Wayne's portrait for the actor's Press Club Man of the Year award induction ceremony.
