CHINESE PAINTING FROM YE QIAN YU (1907 - 1995) WATERCOLOUR ON PAPER

Dimensions: 47 cm x 36 cm Stem-shaped drum. Ye Qian yu has three wonders "cartoon, dance painting and sketch". Among these three, he is well known for dance painting. This painting “stem-shaped drum” was painted in 1981, depicting a folk instrument of Dai nationality, stem-shaped drum. In the painting, a young male Dai nationality dressed in ethnic costume and carrying a traditional drum, is dancing merrily. By standing on one foot and beating drums rhythmically with his hands, the dancer shows us a vivid glimpse of ethnic life. This is the typical feature of Ye Qian yu's works, "full of ethnic flavor".

INDIAN DANCER BY YE QIAN YU (1907-1995) Paper China 20th century Dimensions with frame: 170 x 50 cm painting: 75 x 35 cm Mr Ye is a prominent painter of dancing figures. He painted a lot of Indian dancers after 1940 when he turned back from India. He has his unique style, like smooth lines, thick colors and pure “India flavor”. This work is painted in 1977, the dancer dresses in traditional Indian cloth, holds a tray to offer gifts to the sage, expressing her humility.
