Yau Bee Ling is considered to be one of the most established contemporary artists in Malaysia. She was born in 1972 in Port Klang. She studied art at the Malaysian Institute of Art, where she was awarded with a full scholarship. She represented Malaysia at the 9th Asian Art Biennal in Bangladesh.

Her work was then selected by a renowned curator in Singapore, T. K. Sabapathy for an exhibition at the Singapore Sculpture Square, and then at the Fukuoka Asian Art Museum.         Rendered using multiple perspectives, this festive scene depicts the nostalgic interior layout of a family home. Several views of the rooms were neatly assembled, filled with interesting details of household objects. A lavish meal is presented on the circular table, anticipating a reunion with the return of the household members. Using a warm colour palette accented with red hues, family life is well represented through the arrangement of subjects and furniture in the living spaces. Yau Bee Ling graduated from the Malaysian Institute of Art in 1995 with a Diploma in Fine Art (Major in Painting). She was awarded Kuandu Artist in Residence, Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei, Taiwan in 2016. Bee Ling's first big break was when she was selected for the 9th Asian Art Biennale in Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1999. The recognition followed when she was selected for prestigious exhibitions such as the Singapore Sculpture Square (2000), the 2nd Fukuoka Triennial, Fukuoka Art Museum, Japan (2002) and the Soul of Asia: Fukuoka Asian Art Museum Collection exhibition in Hokkaido, Japan (2004). Her solo exhibitions Interwoven Terrains (2019), By Hands (2016), The Women (2013), Portraits Of Paradox (2008), were held at Wei-Ling Gallery, Kuala Lumpur. Public collection includes Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, Kuandu Museum of Fine Arts, Taipei National University of The Arts, Taiwan, National Art Gallery Malaysia, and Galeri Petronas.
