        Painting on silk. Japan, 17th cent.The landscape format picture presents the sweeping mountain Fujisan (also called Fujiyama in the West) in perfect symmetry in the center. The majestic-noble eminence is emphasized through the impeccable white. The view is from Miho no Matsubara with its famous pines. In front of Fuji are subtly dark clouds, fisher boats in the water fore. Left outside the signature Hogen EI-SHIN hitsu 法 眼 永 真 筆 . Eishin is the artist´s name of Yasunobu. He received the title Hogen in 1662. He was especially known for his Shohekiga painting in the Kyoto imperial palace, while he also worked in Edo (Tokyo) for the Shogunat.
