        An early 19th century Russian silver twin handled salt with provenance from Anna Pavlova hallmarked St. Petersburg, assayer Aleksandr Ilbich Yashinov 1795-1826, maker's mark JS, the boat form salt with half gadrooned decoration, gilt washed interior and twin lion mask loose ring handles, on an oval pedestal foot with gadrooned border, 3 3/4in. (9.5cm.) long, weight 1.85 tr. oz.; together with a 1931 auction catalogue (see notes below). (2) * This salt was purchased from the Phillips, Son & Neale auction of the contents of Ivy House, Hampstead, on June 22nd 1931, sold on the instruction of the administrators of the Estate of the late Mme. Anna Pavlova, lot 913, catalogued as "A 3 1/2in. repoussé silver salt cellar with lion head and ring handles".
