Artist John Yardley was born in 1933 in Yorkshire. For 40 years, he pursued a career in banking while painting in his spare time. It was not until 1986 that he took up painting full time, just after the Alexander Gallery in Bristol discovered his work and started selling it in considerable quantities. Painter John Yardley found early inspiration from the works of Edward Seago and Edward Wesson, and under Wesson's mentorship developed his own unique style.
