      Yohanan Ben Ya'akov (1913-2003), Bezalel Artist, An impressive wood carving display consisting of carving and attaching many pieces of wood handcrafted by the artist, signed, dimensions: 113x43 cm. * Yohanan ben Yaakov (July 18, 1913 – April 12, 2003) was an Israeli painter and sculptor. Ben Yaakov was born in Berlin in 1913. In 1933 he immigrated to the Land of Israel and from then until his death lived in Kibbutz Hazore'ah. He studied sculpting and painting in 1943 in Bezalel, with Mordechai Erdon and Isidore Aschheim. Ben Yaakov won the Dizengoff Prize for the art of sculpting and painting on behalf of the Tel Aviv Municipality for 1950-1951, and the Dubiner Prize (1950), the Munich Municipality Prize for Sculpture (1968) and the Writers' Union Prize (1980).
