Shown is a river landscape with figure staffage. A bridge on the right side of the image leads towards a hidden city in the background with two mighty gothic cathedrals that rise above the tree tops. It is an idealized landscape composition by painter Würth who was active in Veitshoechheim and painted mainly landscapes and cityscapes. The painting is signed lower right ‘P.Würth’. It is in good overall condition with slight age-related craquelure. The varnish is slightly soiled. The stretcher is slightly pushing through in the upper margin. The image size is 67 x 104 cm, the framed dimensions are 82 x 117 cm. Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance. Der Maler und Grafiker Peter Würth arbeitete in Würzburg hauptsächlich an religiösen Motiven und als Buchillustrator (vgl. Thieme-Becker, Bd. XXXVI, S. 298), zudem war er Lehrer an der Kunstschule in Nürnberg.
