  • Richard Henry Wright,  A view of the Palace of Westminster across the Thames
    Jul. 19, 2023

Richard Henry Wright,  A view of the Palace of Westminster across the Thames

    Est: £300 - £400

Richard Henry Wright,  British 1857-1930-  A view of the Palace of Westminster across the Thames;  watercolour on paper, bears inscription 'R H Wright' (on the backing paper), 18.2 x 27.4 cm.  Provenance:  Private Collection, UK.  Note:  This hazy, atmospheric composition is typical of Wright's oeuvre, which consisted almost exclusively of historic British cities and landscapes across Europe. The eerie quality of the present work is reinforced by the seemingly empty boats in the foreground, positioned beneath the dark clouds which loom above.
