Dutch painter and window dresser, born in Ammerzoden (NL) on 02-02-1928, died 23-08-2011 at the age of 83. Martin van Wordragen had a traditional classical education, so he was forced to paint natural-looking scenes for many years. Youthful Martin was not happy with that.He had already become acquainted with the Cobra movement and that deeply affected him. This was the Style he wanted; this was painting from the heart. In order to broaden his knowledge, he frequently visited museums and exhibitions.At the time, he also became acquainted with Constant Permeke, which made him captivated by Flemish Expressionism. This painter and the Cobra movement broke with traditional painting.Martin van Wordragen grows into the painter we know today, with colorful works that are crudely but effectively set up.
