FISCHER AM CHIEMSEE Öl auf Leinwand. 37,3 x 51,6 cm. Links unten signiert „J. Wopfner“. Auf der ruhigen Wasserfläche des Chiemsees sind drei Fischer mit einem Mädel damit beschäftigt, Fischernetze aus dem Wasser zu ziehen. Die Uferküste in der Ferne durch aufsteigende Wolken in diffuses Licht getaucht. Feine und helle Lichtstimmung mit changierenden Farben auf der Wasseroberfläche. Das Gemälde ist im Werkverzeichnis zu Joseph Wopfner unter der Nummer 723 erfasst und in den Schaffenszeitraum von 1920-1927 eingeordnet. Der Künstler war ein österreichischer Landschaftsmaler und Vertreter der Münchener Schule. Da er für seine Gemälde häufig Motive aus dem Chiemgau benutzte, wird er auch als Chiemseemaler bezeichnet. Joseph Wopfner (Austria, 1843-1927) oil on canvas mounted to board painting titled "Weiden in der Abendsonne" or "Pastures in the Evening Sun" depicting a meadow with trees at dusk, the sunlight casting shadows of the trees into the foreground. Signed lower right. Estate stamp en verso reading "Nachlass Prof. Jos. Wopfner" and additional German inscription to stretcher. Housed in a giltwood frame with carved corner decoration. Sight: 7 3/4" H x 12 3/4" W. Framed: 13 1/2" H x 18 1/2" W. Note: This work is featured in Josef Wopfner's Catalogue Raisonne by Irmgard Holz and Alexander Rauch, Figure 465, page 226.
