Robert Wood Art for Sale at Auction

b. 1852 - d. 1899

Artist Robert Wood (1852-1899) was a landscape painter who was born in Northumberland. He is known primarily for his watercolor paintings as well as for composite drawing-watercolors that are in an almost preparatory, sketch-like fashion.

The best-known extant example of Robert Wood's paintings is a watercolor distance view of Lindisfarne Castle, on Holy Island off the Northumberland coast, viewed from the shores of its natural harbor. Its tonality in muted browns and blues captures the castle’s cheerlessness in the late 1800s, after its glory days as an English fort in the 1600s.

Artist Robert Wood exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours and the Royal Scottish Academy. The value of Robert Wood's prints vary according to their rarity. Browse online for other singular and stylized landscape prints to display a glimpse of history in your living space.
