Do try to sing to Mr Wiliam Boosey, as I should very much like you to sing at the Promenade Concerts next season-1920", 12 August 1919) and rejecting invitations ("I am sorry to say that I do not know of anyone who could give a lecture on Russian music...As far as I am concerned I am afraid I really could not manage it, because I have refused so many times of late years to give lectures", 1 November 1915) to music matters ("I quite agree with you as regards new Wagner selections.
