A.’ Dimensions: 22 x 36 cm Very good condition This portfolio contains eight lithographs by the Austrian artist Karl Anton Wolf. It bears the title ‘Die sieben Tage der Bretagne’ (‘The Seven Days of Brittany’) and is dated to the year 1972. The eight lithographs are characterized by expressive forms and signs. Both the red portfolio and the eight prints are in very good condition with minimal signs of wear. Each print is signed on the lower right in pencil ‘Ka Wolf’. Further, each sheet is titled lower left ‘Aus dem Zyklus ‘Die sieben Tage der Bretagne’ E. A.’. The portfolio measures 22 x 36 cm. Karl Anton Wolf (1908-1989) Born in Vienna, Karl Anton Wolf was a painter and sculptor. As an artist he was self-taught. From 1927 to 1939 he undertook study trips through Europe and Africa. In addition to his many professions he was always active as an artist: he painted, composed and wrote. After serving in World War II, Wolf decided in 1953 to act only as an artist. From 1957 onwards he produced large-format images; in the same year he was awarded the 4th Biennial of São Paulo. After 1968, Wolf worked with sculpture and four years later was awarded the title of professor. (ggo) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance. It shows an abstract composition of blue, black, and purple colors, with streaks of light blue and further color accents in white and red. Despite the dark colors, the painting does not appear gloomy, but rather atmospheric or melancholy. The oil painting allows various possibilities of association and therefor attracts the viewer's attention. This work by Karl Anton Wolf is in good condition, with light signs of age and wear. There is a little loss of color in some places around the edges. It is verso dated '1966' and barely legible signed as well as provided with a faded stamp. Its dimensions are 41.5 x 49 cm. Karl Anton Wolf (1908 - 1989) Karl Anton Wolf was a self-taught artist who had never visited an arts school. He began working as a free artist in 1953 creating sculptures and paintings. He also wrote poems and composed music. Wolf participated at the Biennale in Sao Paulo as well as the documenta II in Kassel and is mainly known for his large iron sculptures. In 1972 he was appointed professor.
