Anton Woensam von Worms (c.1493-1541) An album of 30 prints, with 21 individual woodcut book illustrations, one with early hand-colouring, 7 titles bordered with woodcut illustrations, and two text leaves with decorative woodcut borders attributed to von Worms, 7 monogrammed with AW, trimmed, [c.1520-1540], neatly tipped onto album leaves, large 4to. Anton Woensam was a German painter and wood-engraver. Little is known of his life, but he is recorded as having moved from Worms to Cologne around 1510, where he was to spend his most creative years. He probably trained as a painter with his father Jaspar, but he is known primarily for his book illustrations.
