    OTHMAR WINKLER (1906-1999) " Primavera " Sculpture en bronze à patine brune figurant la saison du printemps stylisée d'un jeune berger jouant de la flûte au pied d'un arbre. Signé sur la barrière et présenté sur sa planche en bois d'origine avec plaquette de l'artiste. Dimensions : 57 x 30,5 cm --------- Bronze sculpture with brown patina depicting the stylized spring season of a young shepherd playing the flute at the foot of a tree. Signed on the barrier and presented on its original wooden board with the artist's plaque. -------- Sculpteur italien né à Brunico dans l'Empire austro-hongrois, c'est en 1928 que Winkler s'installe à Acqui chez ami sculpteur de Val Gardena et est remarqué par l'avocat Beccelario di Acqui qui le recommande au Comte Pellati qui vit à Rome. Winkler y organise sa première exposition dès 1931, la critique est très positive et Mussolini à ce point impressionné qu'il lui achète à titre privé une oeuvre sur San Cristoforo. Winkler s'installe ensuite dans le Trentin et débute par des portails en bois qui seront les premiers d'une longue série d'oeuvres d'art sacré en bois. Dans les années 50, il abandonne l'Art sacré pour l'Art profane en bronze avec le cycle des "Oeuvres fondamentales de l'homme" pour la province de Bolzano tout en abordant graphiquement le thème des guerres paysannes de 1500. En 1998, Winkler fera dont du Bronze San Francesco torturé à la ville d'Assise durement touchée par le tremblement de terre. Italian sculptor born in Brunico in the Austro-Hungarian Empire, it was in 1928 that Winkler moved to Acqui with a sculptor friend from Val Gardena and was noticed by the lawyer Beccelario di Acqui who recommended him to Count Pellati who lives in Rome. Winkler organized his first exhibition there in 1931, the criticism was very positive and Mussolini was so impressed that he bought a work on San Cristoforo from him privately. Winkler then settles in Trentino and begins with wooden portals which will be the first of a long series of works of sacred art in wood. In the 1950s, he abandoned Sacred Art for Profane Art in bronze with the cycle of "Fundamental Works of Man" for the province of Bolzano while graphically addressing the theme of the peasant wars of 1500. In 1998, Winkler will donate tortured San Francesco Bronze to the earthquake-hit city of Assisi.
