§ Douglas Wilson RCA (British 1936-) A Young Corn signed 'DOUGLAS WILSON' (lower right) oil on board 39 x 49cm Footnote: Provenance: With Anthony Dawson Fine Art, London, where acquired in September 1990 Illustrator, teacher, painter and etcher, Douglas Wilson, was born in Cheshire in 1936. After receiving his early training at Farnham School of Art, Wilson continued his education at Oxford University where he studied under Lawrence Toynbee and Geoffrey Rhoades. After several city-based teaching posts, Wilson moved to a rural location, nestled between Shropshire and the Welsh borders, where he nurtured and developed his love of landscape painting. Praised for his sensitive approach to the landscape and his skilful tonal control, Wilson’s works are characterised by their fastidious attention to detail and mysterious, dreamlike qualities, where human activity is evident and, yet, conspicuously hidden.
