Oil Painting "Pond in Giant Mountains" by E. Wilm, about 1920

    Est: €160 - €200

Oil on wood Germany, about 1920 Eberhard Wilm (1866-1935) - German Painter Signed lower left "E. Wilm." Titled on reverse side "Orig. Eberhard Wilm, Teich bei Hermsdorf i. Riesengebirge (unterhalb des Kynast)" Elaborately framed Overall Dimensions: 41 x 55 cm Provenance: From the estate of a Berlin collector Very good condition This highly decorative oil painting by Eberhard Wilm (1866-1935) shows a view of a blue pond. The surface of the water reflects the banks, which are overgrown with bushes and reed. The Silesian artist captured this picture at Hermsdorf in the Giant Mountains. With strong, expressive brushstrokes and a naturalistic palette he created a wonderfully idyllic landscape. The painting is in very good condition with only a small scratch. The elaborate frame shows little traces of age and use. Lower left the hard board is signed with "E. Wilm." On the rare side there is a note „Orig. Eberhard Wilm, Teich bei Hermsdorf i. Riesengebirge (unterhalb des Kynast)". The dimensions are 41 x 55 cm (framed) and 33 x 46 cm (cut out). Eberhard Wilm (1866-1935) 1866 Eberhard Wilm was born in in the Silesian manor Nieder-Schellendorf, in the district of Goldberg. He studied at the Academy in Berlin and under Carl von Marr (1858-1936) in Munich. Wilm worked primarily as a portraitist. Until 1918 he was living in Weimar, and then moved to Warmbrunn, where he died in 1935.
