NICOLAAS WICART 1748 - Utrecht - 1815 „Dorp Westbrocke“. Flußlandschaft mit Hirten. Lavierte Pinselzeichnung in Grau mit zweifacher Einfassungslinie. Vgl. Scheen 128. - Signiert sowie verso betitelt. Wasserzeichen: Bekröntes Wappen mit „D C B“. 37,2 x 51 cm (Darstellung einschl. Einfassungslinien; Blatt: 48,2 x 61 cm). Minimal fleckig, mit leichten Knickspuren und (im Bereich des Himmels) winzigen Restaurierungen. Nicolaas Wicart wurde besonders durch seine atmosphärischen Landschaften, die in der Tradition der niederländischen Künstler des 17. Jhdts. stehen, bekannt. Das vorliegende Aquarell zeigt vortrefflich sein Können, das ihn zum bekanntesten Porzellanmaler der Manufaktur Loosdrecht werden ließ. Seine meist lavierten oder in Aquarelltechnik ausgeführten Marinen oder Flußlandschaften findet man in zahlreichen berühmten Museen, z.B. im Britischen Museum und Victoria & Albert Museum (London), in der Albertina (Wien), im Musées Royaux des Beaux-Arts (Brüssel) oder Frans-Hals-Museum in Haarlem.
