      dating: 1858 - 1861 provenance: USA, Octagonal, 3.9’, 31 cal. barrel, with brass foresight. Six-shot cylinder with remains of engraving. Working mechanism, but it needs revision. Cartridge rammer lever at the trigger guard. Serial number '381' inside the grip, wooden grip scales with matching numbering. Some pitting, signs of use and time. length 22 cm.

      Estimate: $900 - 1400 A) Manufactured from 1859 to 1862 this is a First Model with the button head type cylinder pin secured by a screw entering the underside of the frame. The cylinder has the dog chasing rabbit scene. The left barrel flat has the two line address/patent date marking. Grips, barrel, cylinder pin screw, cylinder pin and cylinder are numbered to gun. BBL: 4 inch octagon Stock: Gauge: 32 RF Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 80 Condition: Fine. The revolver retains 30% original blue finish (mostly on the frame and barrel) with the balance a smooth brown patina. Most of the cylinder scene remains. The grips are very good with some scattered minor handling marks. Mechanically needs work as the cylinder does not always rotate when action is cycled. - B) This is an example of standard model sidehammer pocket revolver as manufactured from 1858 to 1861 with an estimated 750-1,000 produced. The left barrel flat is stamped with the two line address/patent dates (ending in 1858) marking. It has the standard model loading lever catch located at the back of the trigger guard. The cylinder has the forest scene engraving. Smooth grips with the right panel numbered to the gun. BBL: 3 inch octagon Stock: Gauge: 28 Percussion Finish: blue Grips: walnut Serial Number: 567 Condition: Very good. The revolver has a smooth brown-gray patina with traces of original blue finish remaining on the frame and the barrel retaining 40% original blue finish. A couple percussion nipples are completely missing. Most of the cylinder scene remains. The grips are fine with much of the varnish remaining and some scattered minor handling marks.       A) Made 1861 and 1862 with a total production of only about 500. Brass blade and hammer notch sights, makers marks on left side of barrel, trigger guard/ loading lever, and smooth walnut grips. The cylinder doesn't lock when the hammer is cocked, otherwise the action is fine. Matching numbers on the trigger guard lever and frame under the grips. BBL: 5 inch octagon Stock: Gauge: 36 percussion Finish: blue/ casehardened Grips: walnut Serial Number: 14 B) Made from 1863 to 1875. Replacement front sight, no visible makers marks, brass trigger guard and ill fitting, loose replacement grips. There is some pitting on the hammer.
