Werden, Donald 1921-

Donald Werden is a renowned artist, best known for his watercolor work. Born in Evanston, Illinois, Werden moved to Philadelphia, where he attended the Penn Charter School, graduating in 1939. From there Werden continued to pursue academics but with an artistic bent. He attended Brown University, the Tyler School of Fine Art, Temple University, the Philadelphia Museum School, and Columbia University. His academic and artistic career was halted by a brief term as a captain of the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1942.

After Werden was able to pursue his artistic endeavors once again, he went on to create award winning work. His exhibitions included the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts Annual Exhibition, the National Drawing Show at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, exhibits at the American Watercolor Society and the Allied Artists of America, the Hunterdon Art Center National print show, the Woodmere Art Museum Annual Exhibit, the Fine Towns Art Center Annual Exhibit, the New Jersey State Museum Annual Exhibit, and the American Engravers Exhibit at the Albrecht Art Museum.
