This stunningly realistic still life depicts white vases, a tin can and flower in an elegant arrangement. Weitzen, who worked in Italy, was clearly influenced by the old Italian masters of still life realism such as Caravaggio. The objects are very clearly defined. The play of light and shadow on the pure white vases and curtains is truly remarkable. The flowers look fresh and vibrant also. Danka Weitzen (born 1950) is of Polish and Italian descent, and has spent her life in Italy. After graduating from high school, she started exhibiting her art. Her first exhibition was in Turin, Italy in 1969 at the Ars Plauda Gallery. Since that time, she has had international recognition of her art at exhibits in numerous countries including Holland, Egypt, Malta, Norway, Germany, Ireland, Russia, Senegal, Spain, United States, Bulgaria, Poland, Costa Rica, Kenya, Ethiopia, Portugal, Romania and Italy. Her work has sold for over $5000.
