        Hellmuth Weissenborn, "Themse-Ufer" und "Themse-Ufer bei Putney", Pastelle von 1968, gerahmt Hellmuth Weissenborn, 1898 Leipzig- 1982 London, deutscher Grafiker und Illustrator, Prof., Boote auf der Themse, Pastell/Platte, 37,5 x 55 cm, verso sign. u. bez., hinter Glas gerahmt; winterlicher Blick auf das Themseufer bei Putney, Pastell/ Platte, sign. u. dat. 1968, verso dat., bez. u. dat., 37,5 x 54,5 cm, hinter Glas gerahmt. Zum Künstler: 1922 absolvierte Weissenborn die staatliche Prüfung für Zeichenlehrer des höheren Lehramts in Dresden, 1925 promovierte er mit einem ethnologischen Thema bei Fritz Krause. 1926 wurde er von Tiemann als Dozent an die Staatliche Akademie für Graphische Künste und Buchgewerbe in Leipzig berufen, wenig später zum Professor ernannt. Wie einige andere Mitarbeiter Tiemanns auch, wurde er nach der Machtergreifung der Nationalsozialisten am 1. April 1937 entlassen. Da Weissenborn mit einer Jüdin verheiratet war, floh er nach den Pogromen von 1938 nach England ins Exil, wo er Anschluss an den „Freien Deutschen Kulturbund“ fand.

        Sechs Linolschnitte -- 6 (2 farbige) Linolschnitte auf verschiedenen Papieren. 1953-1966. -- Bis 32 x 23 cm. -- Jeweils signiert "H. Weissenborn", teils datiert bzw. betitelt. -- -- Weissenborn hatte nach seinen Studien in Dresden Max Schwimmer, Walter Tiemann und Hans Alexander Müller kennengelernt und wurde 1926 von Tiemann als Dozent an die Staatliche Akademie für Graphische Künste und Buchgewerbe in Leipzig berufen. Wie einige andere Mitarbeiter Tiemanns auch, wurde er nach der Machtergreifung der Nationalsozialisten am 1. April 1937 entlassen und konnte im Jahr darauf nach London emigrieren. Vorhanden sind die Motive "Totbole, Italy", "St. Christophorus", "St. Franziskus", "Battersea", "Thames near Putney" und "Strand on the Green".
