      Caspar Weinrauch (1765 Bamberg - 1846 Vienna): Second meeting of Emperor Joseph II and the King of Prussia in the camp near Neustadt in Moravia 1770, c. 1800, Steel engraving Technique: Steel engraving on Paper Inscription: lower left signed in the printing plate: "Weinrauch fecit Vienne". Date: c. 1800 Description: Meeting between Joseph II and Frederick II on horseback. Person: Depicted: Emperor Joseph II., Holy Roman Empire Habsburg (1741 Schönbrunn - 1790 Vienna) First member of the House of Habsburg-Lorraine to become Holy Roman Emperor. From 1765 to 1780 Joseph, for whom the imperial dignity alone was only titularly elevated, officiated as co-regent of his mother Maria Theresa in the lands of the Habsburg Monarchy; from 1780 he exercised rule alone as Archduke of Austria. Joseph is regarded as an exponent of enlightened absolutism and set in motion an ambitious reform programme (Josephinism, Tolerance Patent, abolition of serfdom). Shortly before the end of his life, he was forced to withdraw many of his reform projects. His motto was: Virtute et exemplo ("With virtue and example").
