Joachim Weingart, Polish, German, 1895 to 1942, a Post Impressionist oil on board painting depicting a reclining nude. Signed by the artist on the upper right. Framed. Note: Joachim Weingart left Galicia in 1912 to take drawing classes in Weimar. In 1914, he studied in Vienna at the School of Fine Arts and visited Berlin. After World War I, he exhibited his work at Lodz. Back to Berlin in 1922, he met Menkes and Alfred Aberdam at the studio of Alexander Archipenko. A year later, Weingart joined Menkes in Paris. The art dealer Rene Gimpel showed interest in his paintings and signed a contract with him in 1930. One of a kind artworks. European Modernist Fine Art For Collectors.

Joachim Weingart (Polish, 1895-1942) Joachim Weingart (Polish, 1895-1942) Two children signed and dated 'Weingart/Paris 1925' l.r. on folded canvas, oil on canvas sight size 68 x 57cm, unframed Joachim Weingart enjoyed early success and had exhibited both at Lwow (1912) and the School of Arts and Crafts, Vienna (1914) before his twentieth birthday. In 1922, Weingart visited Berlin and during a visit to the studio of Alexander Archipenko (1887-1964), he befriended artists Sigmund Menkes (1896-1986) and Alfred Aberdam (1894-1963). He travelled to Paris the following year, meeting Léon Weissberg (1895-1943) and together with Menkes and Aberdam, the artists held a group show. At this time the art dealer, René Gimpel began working with Weingart. Weingart continued to live in Montparnasse, Paris. Following the Nazi occupation of the city, Weingart was arrested in March 1942, he was detained at the Pithiviers camp and deported to Auschwitz the same year, where he was killed. Realized in 1926. 30 000 - 40 000 € Né à Drohobytch en Pologne, ce n’est qu’en 1925 que Weingart arrive à Paris, après avoir connu un certain succès pour ses expositions dans sa patrie où il avait commencé ses études de peinture en 1912 à l’École des Arts Appliqués de Weimar avant de se rendre à Vienne pour y suivre les cours de l’Académie des Beaux-Arts. A Berlin, Il bénéficia ensuite des conseils d’Archipenko. Lorsqu’il arrive à Paris en 1925 il ne rencontre pas immédiatement le succès. Il s’inscrit à la Société des Artistes Indépendants en janvier 1926. Les malheurs qu’il connait dans sa vie conjugale influenceront profondément l’évolution de sa carrière. Après plusieurs dépressions, il sera hospitalisé mais continuera à peindre des toiles parmi ses plus belles œuvres jusqu’à la déportation en juillet 1942. La modernité dans le choix de la composition et de la perspective, l’harmonie des couleurs et l’atmosphère atemporelle qui habite l’œuvre marquent son unicité.
