Moritz Wegwerth born in 1981, lives and works in Düsseldorf Moritz Wegwerth has been a student of free art under Professor Andreas Gursky at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf since 2010. He previously studied with Professor Jörg Sasse at Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. Moritz Wegwerth explores the frontiers between abstraction and depiction. His photographs construct an ostensibly clear idea of reality which simultaneously draws back from granting us access. Unnameable, disconcerting, fictitious places and situations created by the artist challenge the observer’s perception and ask questions of the medium. In this way, Wegwerth leads us to the boundaries between reality and fiction, belief and knowledge.
