From a series of peace and protest posters by Weege printed at Happening Press in the late 1960s, these images originally appeared in his portfolio Peace is Patriotic. Weege was a printmaker and artist. He was an MFA student at the University of Wisconsin Madison during the anti-Vietnam war protests that rocked the campus in 1967 - a protest movement that helped define his politcial work. He represented the United States at the 1970 Venice Biennale. Group includes: In Every Government there is a Trace of Human Weakness; Napalm; All the Way with LBJ; and Impeach Johnson.

          William Weege Hand-Made Paper Sculpture Akhnaten: William Weege (American), 1983, hand-made and dyed a dimensional paper construction / sculpture titled, 'Akhenaten'. Dimensions are: paper size - 38“ tall X 27“ wide, while the plexi-glass, shadowbox frame measures 41“ tall X 30 3/4“ wide X 1 1/2" deep. All measurements are approximate. Artist Biography: William Weege joined the faculty of the Art Department at UW-Madison in 1971 and in 1987 he founded Tandem Press specializing in contemporary printmaking. He was a professor in the graphics area, and remained on faculty until his retirement in 1998. Weege also worked as an independent artist and in 1991 and 1992 collaborated with Sam Gilliam on a print installation entitled Fireflies and Ferriswheels, which traveled to Finland and Korea. In 1970 and 1971 Weege's art was exhibited at the World’s Fair in Japan and the 7th International Biennial Exhibition in 1970, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMa) in 1970 and at the Whitney Museum in 1971. Weege is one of the early practitioners of the revival of handmade paper, which started in the 1960s. He is also highly regarded for his broad understanding of all aspects of printmaking. Weege
