John Dawson Watson (British, 1832–1892) Portrait of Miss Mary Anne Burr (1839-1925) with a fan signed lower right with initials "JDW 1870" watercolour h:29.50 w:21 cm Mary Anne Burr was the daughter of Thomas Burr of Newcastle and married Collingwood Tully. The present portrait is one of several watercolours John Dawson Watson completed in 1870 whilst visiting the north-east of England.

John Dawson Watson 1832 - 1892. Pair of Watercolours Titled ''Studies of Characters from Shakespeare'' Signed and dated 1884. Each measures 11 x 16 inches. Provenance: By descent from the estate of Henry Boddington J.P. 1813 - 1886. Brewer of Manchester. Boddington was a friend and patron of Watson and collected a large portfolio of his work. Similar painting of these were later taken from the portfolio to decorated the Castle Hotel, Conwy.
