The artist is also known as Gérard Salomon and he signs his works, including the present one, with G. Salomon (lower left). The present painting is in addition inscribed, titled Mégalithes and dated to 1992 on the reverse. The interest of the artist lies in French landscapes and cities. Mégalithes is a typical example of his compositions with strongly outlined shapes in black. The interspace is painted in a color chart ranging from bright to muted shades, bestowing the painting with an illustrative character. Depicted is the rough landscape of the North coast of France with a large megalith in the foreground and some houses further to the back. The work is in good condition, there are distinctive framing marks on the left side of the painting. The frame displays traces of wear. The stretcher frame is 46 x 55 cm in size and the total dimensions, including the frame, are 63 x 72 cm. (tm) Shipping costs excl. statutory VAT and plus 2,5% (+VAT) shipping insurance.
