        H. BARTON (BART) WASSERMAN (PA, 1929-2004) - Untitled, cotton pulp on linen, in a white box frame, floated over white board under glass, OS: 35" x 44", SS: 29" x 38". Fine condition. In 1965, when he was a student at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Wasserman met another student, David Lynch, who had made a short film to enter in a contest. He gave Lynch $1,000 to make a second film, which the filmmaker later said helped launch his career. For 17 years, Mr. Wasserman worked on his farm in the province of Burgundy, France, and then lived in Paris, London, New York, and Santa Barbara, Calif., before moving to Coatesville, PA in 1989. Sold to benefit the Center for Maine Contemporary Art.
