Tadeusz Was (1912, Zerkow, Poland - 2005, Crewe, UK). Polish painter active mainly in UK. He studied at the Fine Arts Academy in Cracow. During the WWII he was arrested by NKVD and send to a prisoners' camp, but he managed to escape. He joined the Polish Anders' Army. After the war he stayed first in Rome and in 1947 he moved to Glasgow. He taught art at the College of Art in Crewe.
