A Picturesque Tour of the English Lakes, large paper copy [one of 100 copies], half-title, hand-coloured aquatint title-vignette and 48 fine hand-coloured aquatint plates, scattered spotting to text, the odd spot and some light finger-soiling to plate margins, attractive 19th century green half morocco, gilt, spine gilt in compartments, corners a little bumped, t.e.g.,  [Abbey, Scenery 192; Tooley 219], 4to, R. Ackermann, 1821.

A Picturesque Tour of the English Lakes, containing a description of the most romantic scenery of Cumberland, Westmoreland and Lancashire, with accounts of antient and modern manners and customs, and elucidations of the history and antiquities of that part of the country, London: R. Ackermann, 1821, title with hand-coloured aquatint vignette, appears to lack the half-title, 39 (only of 48) aquatint plates, all with contemporary hand-colouring, occasional staining, upper hinge broken with spine and upper board detached from the text block, removal of bookplate has caused scarring to the front pastedown, contemporary half morocco gilt, heavily worn and rubbed, 4to QTY: (1) NOTE: Abbey, Scenery 192; Tooley 219. Sold as a collection of plates, not subject to return.

A Picturesque Tour of the English Lakes, first edition, half-title, aquatint title-vignette and 48 plates, all hand-coloured, some tissue-guards loose, occasional light foxing and spotting slightly affecting the edges of one or two plates, contemporary red half morocco, spine gilt in compartments, a few surface tears to marbled boards, slightly rubbed, R. Ackermann, 1821 § Garnet (J., publisher) Views of the English Lakes, engraved title and 30 plates, some very light water-staining to upper edge, modern half calf, gilt, morocco spine label, Windermere [c.1860s], 4to and oblong 8vo (2) ***  To summarize Ackermann's introduction, this work unites the "most striking features of the various kinds of scenery of the lakes, executed by able artists in a style worthy of the subject" with "a description of all that is interesting and remarkable in the nature and appearance of the country... combining a judicious selection from the labours of former writers... with much new and original information."
